## A few useful answers {#faq-title}

Need more help?
[Visit Peeka support](https://mellowbit.studio/peeka/support/)

**What is Peeka?**

Peeka is a native Mac utility that extends Finder’s Quick Look for developer files. Preview Android and Apple packages, Markdown, structured text, SQLite, and archives locally, without Android Studio, Java, or a separate inspection tool.

**How do I enable the extension?**

Install and open Peeka, then use Settings → General → Open Extensions Settings to check that its Quick Look extension is enabled. Choose your preview formats in Peeka, return to Finder, select a supported file, and press space.

**Where can I download Peeka?**

Download it from the Mac App Store using the link on this page. Peeka requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Updates arrive through the App Store.

**What is free, and what needs Pro?**

Basic APK, IPA, app and app-extension metadata, DMG and flat PKG summaries, Markdown, supported text formats, SQLite structure, and common archive listings are free. Pro unlocks AAB, APKS, XAPK, APKM, AAR, Xcode archives, XCFramework, Framework, dSYM, dylib, provisioning profiles, supported 7z listings, and additional fields such as permission and signing summaries or JAR/WAR manifest details. New SQLite record pages and BLOB previews also require Pro, and their scope can vary by version.

**How much does Peeka Pro cost?**

Peeka Pro uses a single, optional one-time in-app purchase, with no subscription or preview quotas. See Settings → Peeka Pro for the locally displayed price and Restore Purchases.

**What does the main app do?**

Peeka provides extension setup, a searchable format directory, preview switches, settings, and Pro purchase and restore. File previews open in Finder. The main app does not include a standalone file inspector, a comparison view, or export.

**Does Peeka add Finder thumbnails?**

Supported Android and Apple packages can display their embedded app icons when available. Thumbnails do not require Pro and are separate from the preview switches. Finder settings, cached thumbnails, and system icons can affect what appears. Text, SQLite, archives, DMG, and PKG use system icons.

**Are my files uploaded?**

No. Peeka reads and renders files on your Mac, without uploading documents, packages, or database contents. You do not need a Peeka account. Markdown previews do not fetch remote images or execute HTML or scripts.

**Are there preview limits?**

Available fields depend on the file. Signing metadata does not verify signature validity. Browse loaded entries in List or Column view. Large archives load metadata on demand; indexing, sorting and cancellation are supported. Resource limits may produce explicitly incomplete listings. Pro supports 7z listings with compatible LZMA/LZMA2 headers and single-coder solid archives. Encrypted headers, filter chains and unsupported layouts may prevent listing. Legacy filename detection can misidentify ambiguous names; resource limits still apply. DMG and PKG inspect supported apps without mounting or installing. Format switches control Peeka requests; macOS chooses the provider. Pro retains the same limits.

**Can I request another format?**

Yes. Contact us through the support page with the file format and the details you would like to see in its preview.
