# Archives

Inside the preview, switch between List and Column view. In List view you can expand folders. Peeka lists entries without extracting the archive or opening a file inside it.

## What you can browse {#archives-1}

The entry limit is the same with or without Peeka Pro.

- ZIP, TAR, .tar.gz, .tgz, .gz, .jar, and .war listings are free. A standalone .gz file shows the original file name when the header includes one.
- Pro supports 7z listings with compatible LZMA/LZMA2 headers and single-coder solid archives. Encrypted headers, filter chains and unsupported layouts may prevent listing. Legacy filename detection can misidentify ambiguous names; resource limits still apply.
- JAR and WAR manifest details, such as Main-Class, require Pro.
- Browse loaded entries in List or Column view. Large archives load metadata on demand; indexing, sorting and cancellation are supported. Resource limits may produce explicitly incomplete listings.
