# Data, configuration, and databases

## Structured text and configuration {#data-1}

These formats are free. A text preview stops at the first 1 MB.

- JSON is checked and formatted when the formatted result fits. JSON, YAML, TOML, and INI can switch among Source, Outline, and Mindmap.
- JSONL and NDJSON stay line by line. They are not formatted as one JSON document.
- XML, SQL, diff and patch, Protobuf, and GraphQL show source. Diff lines that start with + or − are colored.
- Property lists, including .plist, .entitlements, .xcprivacy, .strings, and .stringsdict, show a short summary rather than the whole tree.
- CSV and TSV show a delimited summary, not a spreadsheet. Finder may still use the system table preview for CSV.
- .env and .env.\* files show key names only. Values stay hidden. Finder often does not send these files to Peeka.

## SQLite {#data-2}

Use .sqlite, .sqlite3, .db, .db3, .s3db, or .sdb. Peeka opens the database read-only. It does not edit, repair, or migrate it.

- The summary and table structure are free. Switch between Structure and Data, and choose a table from the list.
- Pro adds record pages of up to 100 rows, and a preview of the first 4 KiB of a selected BLOB.
- Views, and virtual or shadow tables, show structure only.
- A file with no extension is not sent from Finder unless another type Peeka already handles covers that name.
- Encrypted, damaged, or locked databases may not open. Selecting a WAL, SHM, or journal file by itself does not open a database.

## Diff / Patch · 0.1.7 · App Store review approved {#data-3}

Peeka 0.1.7 has passed Mac App Store review.

- Added free native Diff/Patch previews with Source, Fluid, Change Blocks and Unified views, file switching, old/new line numbers, change counts and text copying.
- Peeka only displays existing patch content. It does not compare arbitrary files or apply patches. Partial or unsupported input keeps its source and an explanation.
