# Peeka Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Peeka is a native Quick Look utility for developer packages, documents, databases, and archives. It runs on your Mac, and it is built to work without knowing anything about you. This policy explains exactly what Peeka does and does not do with your data.

## Who we are

Mellowbit Studio is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Peeka is a native Quick Look utility; this policy explains how the app and its support channels handle data. You can contact us at [support@mellowbit.studio](mailto:support@mellowbit.studio).

## The short version

- No account, no sign-in, no profile.
- Your files are read and rendered locally. They are never uploaded by Peeka.
- No ads, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs inside the app.
- We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers described in this policy.

## How Peeka processes your files

When you preview a file, macOS hands it to Peeka's Quick Look extension. Peeka reads the selected package, document, database, or archive on your Mac and renders a preview on the spot. Files are not copied to our servers, and Peeka does not need a network connection to preview anything you already have locally.

## Permissions

Peeka reads the files you choose to preview through Quick Look and, where needed and permitted, local resources such as Markdown images or SQLite sidecar files. It does not scan your disk, index your folders, or read unrelated documents.

## Diagnostics and crash data

If you choose to share crash reports with developers through macOS or the App Store, Apple may provide them to us. These reports can include technical details such as device model, macOS version, and stack traces. We use them only to fix bugs and keep them for up to 12 months. You can change this in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

## Support requests

If you email us about Peeka, we receive whatever you include in your message. We keep support emails for up to 24 months after the last reply, unless a longer period is needed for an open issue or a legal obligation. Please don't send files containing credentials or private project data.

## Purchases and Apple services

Peeka Pro purchases and Restore Purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details. Apple may provide aggregated sales reports, crash reports, and App Store analytics as described in [Apple's privacy policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).

## Your rights and legal bases

We process support emails based on our legitimate interest in helping you, and crash reports based on your choice to share them with developers. Purchases are processed by Apple under its own terms. Apple and we may process data outside your country; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards. The studio-wide privacy policy explains our providers.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. You can complain to your local supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at [support@mellowbit.studio](mailto:support@mellowbit.studio). We will respond within one month as required by applicable law.

## Changes

If Peeka's data practices change in a future version, we will update this policy before that version ships, update the "Last updated" date, and where appropriate provide a notice on this page.
