User guide
- Get started
Peeka is a native Mac app that extends Finder’s Quick Look for developer files. Select a file and press the space bar to see package details, a formatted document, source code, database structure, or archive entries. Peeka reads the file on your Mac. You do not need a Peeka account, Android Studio, or Java.
- Preview a file
Previews open in Finder. Peeka does not edit the file, and it does not include a separate file inspector, comparison, or export.
- Choose formats
The Peeka window is a format directory. Search by name, extension, or description, then turn a row on or off. Extensions on the same row share one switch. Each source language has its own switch.
File formats
- Application packages
Peeka shows identity and compatibility. It does not install or run the app.
- Documents and source code
Markdown preview is free for .md, .markdown, .mdown, .mkdn, and .mkd.
- Data, configuration, and databases
These formats are free. A text preview stops at the first 1 MB.
- Archives
Inside the preview, switch between List and Column view. In List view you can expand folders. Peeka lists entries without extracting the archive or opening a file inside it.
Features & troubleshooting
- Peeka Pro
Peeka Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase. There is no subscription, and there is no limit on how many previews you open. Open Settings → Peeka Pro to see the price for your region, buy Peeka Pro, or choose Restore Purchases.
- Finder icons
When an Android or Apple package contains an app icon, Finder can show that icon. If the icon is missing or unreadable, Finder keeps its own icon. These icons do not require Pro, and the format switches do not control them.
- If a preview does not appear
Check that Peeka’s Quick Look extension is enabled and that the format’s switch is on. If the format requires Pro, unlock Peeka Pro first. Then close the preview and open it again.
