Markdown

Markdown preview is free for .md, .markdown, .mdown, .mkdn, and .mkd.

  • The preview includes headings, lists, code blocks, tables, task lists, and strikethrough.
  • Markdown fences share the 205 offline lexical profiles listed below. Use an explicit language hint; unknown hints remain plain text. This is lightweight coloring, without code execution.
  • A local image can appear when it is an ordinary file in the same folder and macOS allows the read. Remote images are not downloaded. HTML and scripts are shown as text and are not run.

Source code

Supported source files are free. The preview is read-only, with line numbers and lightweight coloring. Peeka does not run the code.

  • Peeka 0.1.7 includes 205 free offline lexical profiles; Mac App Store review approval was confirmed on 2026-10-26. • Routing: .m stays Objective-C, .pl stays Perl, .v uses Verilog, and V scripts use .vsh; .R / .r use R. .ts / .mts may still route to the system video preview. Compiled .scpt / .mlx files and .docc directories are not supported. Exact filenames such as BUILD, meson.build, Justfile and dotfiles depend on Finder routing. JSON5 / JSONC remain source; .xctestplan / .storekit use JSON, and .xcscheme / .csproj / .vbproj / .props / .targets / .ps1xml use XML. Literate and embedded templates have approximate lexical coloring, without execution or notebook rendering. CUE .cue may use IINA’s audio cue-sheet type io.iina.cue; Peeka does not claim that unrelated type.
  • HTML and CSS are shown as source. They are not rendered as a web page.

Logs

Supported logs, including Android Logcat and Android Studio layouts, have free highlighted source previews. Pro adds summaries and structured details for recognized content. TXT and TEXT remain plain text without automatic content detection.

Mermaid · 0.1.7 · App Store review approved

Peeka 0.1.7 has passed Mac App Store review.

  • Updated offline Mermaid rendering to Pele, with different layouts and syntax compatibility. Diagram mode still requires Pro and macOS 14.4+.
  • Pan and zoom, use Fit, and switch between Diagram and Source. Highlighted Mermaid source in Markdown remains free.
  • Supports .mmd, .mermaid and Mermaid fences in Markdown. Unsupported syntax or resource limits fall back to highlighted source with an explanation. Earlier macOS versions retain Markdown source; standalone Mermaid formats require macOS 14.4+.
